I've talked elsewhere on this web site about how competition can sometimes hinder the Body of Christ from achieving what needs to be achieved. I want to talk on this page about how this Christian ministry can help yours, and vice versa.
One obvious way to help any ministry is by means of links to that ministry's web site or sites. The more traffic a web site gets, the more likely it is that that web site will achieve the objectives of those who created the site.
I hope that those of you who are involved in Christian ministry will find many worthwhile things on this web site. If you do, I would encourage you to link from your own web sites to this site. I would also encourage you to spread the word about this ministry by means of e-mail messages to people who you think might be interested in what I'm trying to achieve, regardless of whether or not they possess artistic talents themselves.
In exchange for your help in promoting this web site, I plan to do everything I can do to make this web site into a valuable resource for your church or ministry and for the artistically talented individual Christians who are involved in your church or ministry. There are a number of ways in which I can create a site which will be helpful to churches and to other Christian ministries, including the following:
- Publicizing art-related ministries by means of an online list of such ministries, with links to those ministries.
- Listing art-related Christian events, such as concerts, art exhibits, dramatic presentations and more. That aspect of this web site has not yet been developed, but it is in the planning stages. Essentially, there would be an online calendar, possibly divided by region so that people can find out what's happening in their own areas of the country. To some extent, it would be modeled on Art Calendar magazine, except that it would be more narrow in one respect (i.e., limited to events specifically pertaining to Christianity or to specifically Christian artists), and more broad in another respect (inasmuch as it would focus on all art forms, not just on visual art).
NOTE: Such listings will most emphatically not be limited to Christian events. For example, if you are a Christian musician or band and you have the good fortune to be booked to play at Lollapalooza, then I'll be more than happy to list your appearance at that event. If you're a Christian artist and you have an upcoming show in a secular gallery, the same principle applies. This is in keeping with my philosophy pertaining to the need to encourage Christians to get out into the world (without becoming "of the world") in order to fulfill your moral responsibility to be salt and light.
- Offering information pertaining to books, magazines, products and services which will be helpful to worship teams and other members of your church who are involved in the arts in various ways.
- Showcasing the work of artists involved in various churches so that they can achieve financial success. While this might seem to be related to individual artists more than it's related to larger ministries such as churches, I believe that helping individuals always has the ultimate effect of helping the ministries with which those individuals are involved. For example, financially successful church members are in a better position to contribute financially to the churches they attend than they would be if they were struggling financially. And it's not all about money.
Happy church members tend to be more enthusiastic about promoting their churches than unhappy church members. Obviously, no ministry can guarantee anyone's happiness, but I certainly intend to do my part in order to try to meet some of the needs of those who are aware of this web site.
I'm still developing this particular document, so please come back to this page in order to read further thoughts on the aforementioned subject in the future.
