Let's say, just for the sake of argument, that you've taken the time to read the Mission Statement in order to get a better feel for what I'm trying to accomplish with the web site. And let's say, just for the sake of another argument, that you're feeling inspired by the possibilities. What can you do to get involved with this ministry? I'm so glad you asked! First, at the risk of sounding like a crass money grubber, I feel compelled to tell you that as a result of having recently lost my job as a telephone surveyor, I'm in need of an immediate cash infusion. I'm willing to work my behind off in order to make this ministry all that it can and should be, but in order to do that, I need to be able to devote a substantial amount of time to this project. Little distractions such as trying to cope with eviction notices could definitely hinder the progress of this endeavor. Therefore, any donations you could send my way would be greatly appreciated. If you should wish to help in that manner, donations can be made by mailing check or money order (made out to Mark Pettigrew) to the following address: Mark Pettigrew30 W. Chicago Avenue Room 1212 Chicago, IL 60610 I haven't yet procured non-profit incorporation for this ministry, but getting a tax break is not the only possible reason for helping a person in need.
There are other ways to help which do not involve direct donations. You could commission me to create a high quality pen & ink portrait for you. If you're in the Chicago area, you could hire me to work for you, on either a temporary or a "permanent" basis, as an administrative assistant, database designer, data entry operator or web designer. (I have training and experience in all those areas and more. I'll be happy to furnish you with further details about that training and experience if you want to see my resume.) For that matter, I am by no means too proud to do jobs involving manual labor. In the past, I've worked as a dishwasher and a cook, among other things. I've even cleaned toilets as a way to keep the money flowing in. It isn't a great way to make a living, but it beats having to beg for help. Sometimes a man has to do what a man has to do. You can reach me by calling me at 312-643-1336, assuming that I'm not online. (As I may or may not have stated elsewhere on this site, I only have one phone line and one dialup Internet account. When I'm surfing the web, the only way to reach me by phone is to leave a voice mail message for me at 773-509-8126.) You could also purchase one or more affordable fine art prints of my flower & garden photos or my abstract art. I've already posted some of the information you would need in order to be able to do that, and I'm working on adding the rest of the information you will need in order to do so. Last but certainly not least, I could certainly use your continual prayers. There are many other ways you could help move this ministry along in the right direction. I plan to update this page by adding such suggestions in the near future. Volunteer help, for example, would be greatly appreciated. But right now, the need to stave off eviction and continue to feed myself is at the top of my list of priorities. Until that matter has been dealt with decisively, the other matters will have to wait a bit. ... Mark W. Pettigrew © 2007 Mark W. Pettigrew |
